This is the first time you have a mission line, meaning both Side Missions and a Main Mission have become available. You can continue to play through the story just with the Main Missions but as you get deeper into it, you’ll have to be at a certain EGO Level to launch certain missions. If you’ve followed this Guide you’ll never run into that situation. Side Missions provide additional color to the main story and earn you Salvage, the currency required to upgrade weapons and advance your Power Rating. The Introduction provided details on this process.
This Guide proceeds through all Side Missions available before doing the Main Mission and does them in a particular order. You are free to so things as you like and, in most cases, following the story won’t be complicated. The sole caveat is this first mission line where the Side Missions actually do provide successive information. It’s in no way confusing, but both the text and narration will appear odd unless you follow this order.

(Captain Noah Grant) This is a damn mess. The terraforming is more severe than anyone realized, so none of our navigation or geographical Intel is relevant. Von Bach’s team brought a mapping device called a Wave Surveyor that bounces signals between the tempeshpere and the surface of the Earth. Your EGO device can locate this us “regulars” can’t, so look around and see if you can find that damn thing.

Objective: Find the VBI Wave Surveyor. While you may hear EGO say, “Let’s move. I’ve zeroed in on the objective.”, the game is inconsistent with this common set of lines. In the future this will not be included in the Guide, just know a location marker has appeared and it’s time to head towards it. The item to be collected is at the end of an elevated portion of a wrecked highway. You will pass some Mutants who you are free to take out or ignore. The highway is divided with a barrier separating the two lanes. Stay to the left and as you approach the marker EGO says, “Look out! It’s an ambush!” This warning is a bit hollow as the Mutants are on the other side of the barrier preventing them from getting to you. EGO says, “There’s data we need, so let’s get it.” Interact with the glowing red object on the ground to pick it up.
Objective: Return the Intel. EGO says, “Let’s get these materials back.” Feel free to take out the Mutants using the barrier for cover, or simply ignore them and jump off the end of the broken highway to the ground below. If you do stick around, you’ll encounter your first Mutant Cleaver, the grunt version of the Rampager from the Tutorial. These are the most basic Mutant enemies who usually simply charge at you but can throw their cleaver and do as your Power Rating rises. After reaching the ground drive to the marker where you will interact with an APS Dropbox. You will encounter these many times on Side Missions located across the map.

(Captain Noah Grant) All I know about this expedition is that Von Bach is doing it with the full support of the Earth Republic. I want to know why my beloved military branch is involved in a private agenda. Our communications system isn’t reaching Manhattan and Von Bach’s MIA. I’m hoping one of his people onboard the New Freedom can fill in the blanks. We have a read on one of his specialist’s rescue beacons, but I can’t pull any of my men from their duties to fetch him. See if you can find him.
15,150, 100,
Objective: Go to the rescue beacon of the specialist. It’s a short drive to the area near where you scanned the fourth charred body. There will be Mutants around but as this area is frequented by many new players their numbers will vary. At the very least a lone Cleaver should be by a truck near the marker. Take out anyone who could interrupt you as EGO says, “Let’s collect that information.”
Objective: Search the VBI specialist for Intel. After interacting with the body, the mission ends, but the truck’s back opens revealing a gaggle of Mutants. Take as many out as you can with a grenade then mop up the rest.

(Captain Noah Grant) The Bay. Home of the Battle of Defiance. Humans and Votans deserted their ranks to save innocent lives. Unprecedented. According to the VBI specialist’s Intel, Von Bach was interested in the mysterious terraform blast that ended that battle. That’s all well and good, but that technology in the wrong hands is bad news. We need to find it, with or without Von Bach. Search the terminals that the specialist was ordered to find and see what the EMC may have known about the tech.
15,225, 100,
Objective: Find and access terminal: 0/3. You are already close and there are roaming Mutants in this area in addition to the ones you’ll trigger as you access the terminals. It’s easiest to take them all out before interacting with a terminal, but you can use cover as well to ignore them until they’re preventing you from proceeding. The first terminal is on the second floor of the parking garage. After you’ve interacted with it a group of Mutants will emerge from a nearby truck so take them out.
Objective: Find and access terminal: 1/3. Head across the street to the second terminal inside the building. If you’ve cleared all the Mutants from the area already this should be a smooth ride.
Objective: Find and access terminal: 2/3. The last terminal is outside the building suspiciously near a truck. Everything will be clear until you finish interacting with the terminal. The mission is over but once again Mutants will exit the truck so deal with them before moving on to the next mission.
M04SMA04
(Captain Noah Grant) Using the intel you found, we now know the terraform blast at the Battle of Defiance was a wave of tach-mag energy. That could only be produced by a terra-spire and one of those hasn’t been seen in over 10 years! No one else can have this Intel, so erase all the EMC databanks that harbor this info.
15,225, 100,
Objective: Erase details of terraforming from the mainframe: 0/3. You will be going to three separate locations as you did in the last mission and interacting with objects. This time they’re a little more spread out. As you drive to the first location, you’ll encounter a wall so get off here. There are Mutants roaming the area. Some are obscured by trucks, some in the open, and one back behind the building where you’ll have to jump up a group of objects to reach the terminal. Jump up the boxes and interact. Mutants will appear on the balcony so take them out.
Objective: Erase details of terraforming from the mainframe: 1/3. As you approach the next location, you’ll see a tunnel filled with rubble. Get off here and be prepared to deal with more Mutants, some already wandering the area, others who emerge from the trucks. Head up the dilapidated ramp and interact with the second terminal.
Objective: Erase details of terraforming from the mainframe: 2/3. There is a broken barrier on the corner near the final terminal which you can jump on and work your way around to the ramp. If you continue past it to loop around, you’re more than likely to encounter some sort of Emergency. It’s easier to sneak around and wrap up the mission. Grant communicates, “One of my medics found some supplies at the Accord Medical Clinic, but he said there’s mutants crawling all over the place. Get him in there so he can get that gear.”
M04
(EGO) Captain Grant’s recon uncovered supplies at the mutant infested Accord Medical Clinic. He sent medics ahead to find a truck and collect the gear. They’ll need assistance.
50,750, 500, Frag Grenade (common)
Objective: Rescue the E-Rep medics. EGO says, “I’m picking up a distress signal from Captain Grant’s men. They’re in trouble! We better help.” As you enter the circular plaza you hear an E-Rep Medic say, “I’m pinned down!” This area’s a bit of a shooting gallery, with you as the target. You’ll see two flashing shield icons representing the medics, as well as various Riflemen up on the walls. The best thing to do is head up the stairs and use cover as you take out the Mutants. After the initial batch is dealt with EGO says, “We’ve got hostile mutants moving in from the northeast!” Most likely you will be right there as you see them approaching the stairs you came up. There are Cleavers in the mix now so be mindful of them getting too close while you’re using zoom targeting.
EGO says, “Mutants coming in from the west!” This will be two batches, one from the truck ahead and another from the same spot you entered the plaza. A final group will appear on the balcony above the entrance to the plaza.
Once all the Mutants have been handled the music will stop and you can go interact with the medics to revive them. One says, “Thanks for the assist. We’ll get this truck running and meet you at the medical clinic.”
Objective: Meet up with the E-Rep medics. Time to drive to another Conflict Site. An E-Rep Medic communicates, “Ark hunter. We’re in position, but this place is crawling with more mutants. We’re going to need your help.” Once at the clinic you’ll see two medics behind a truck. One says, “There’s medical supplies in there, but I can’t get to them with these freaks around. Put these locators on the supplies then come back and get me.” You won’t actually come back as he adds, “Radios are down, so once the targets are cleared, fire a flare from the roof to signal the medical team. We’ll secure the perimeter.”
Objective: Assist E-rep medics. The Conflict Site objective appears at the top of the screen showing “Medical Recovery” with “Tag Medical Supplies” and three empty diamonds representing the three containers you’ll need to interact with. Head to the one to your left and up the ramp. EGO says, “Let’s find the medical supplies. Watch out for the mutants along the way though.” At the top of the ramp a Rifleman will be waiting nearby, and a Cleaver coming up the ramp ahead. There’s another Rifleman using cover below you and another batch will appear from the trucks ahead. There are explosive barrels by some of them to help clear the area quickly. Once all enemies are down interact with the container. EGO says, “Nice! That is a good amount of supplies.”
Head toward the second marker on the bottom level of the structure. There are Mutants waiting and others that will emerge from both a door and the floor. Use the walls for cover, circling around to deal with each group until the area is clear to tag the medical supplies.
The final container is out in the open with Riflemen nearby. Once you reach the spot more will appear along with Cleavers so deal with all enemies until the coast is clear and you can tag the final container. EGO says, “We got ‘em! Nice work. Now let’s get to the roof and signal the medics.” The roof is the third floor of the structure so start heading up the ramps. There are some explosive barrels to take care of a few enemies, but plenty remain to be shot before you can interact with the flare. An E-Rep Technician broadcasts, “Tango in sight. Advancing.”
You can stay on the roof but eventually you’ll have to deal with a few Mutants who wait on the ground near the entrance so leap off the roof and prepare for their arrival. EGO says, “The Earth Republic team has arrived… where’d they get those helicopters? Wait, those are mutants!” An E-Rep Technician exclaims, “Help! This is not what I signed on for!” As the Mutants drop from the helicopters take them out. They will come in a few waves and you won’t be able to catch all of them before some make it to the building along with others who are dropped off directly there. EGO says, “We need to clear this area of hostiles.”
When Mutants begin to be dropped off closer to the roof EGO says, “I’m detecting more Mutants on their way.” Once the ground is clear head back to the roof. The objective header will have been updated to “Clear the compound of all mutants”. Many mutants up there will be obsessed with the technicians, even ones that have already been downed, so use this to your advantage as you clear them all off. You don’t have to revive the technicians, they’ll automatically pop back up after all enemies are dead. EGO says, Good work, area secured.”
Cass communicates, “Hey. Come back to the E-Reps’ circus tent. They’re still having radio communication problems and I can help. Judge me if you want, but there’s scrip to be made here.” The next batch of missions is now available.
