Hellbugs are soon encountered after entering the open world. They are common in most Activities and feature three distinct bosses at Major Arkfalls.
Flying bug with elonated body that shoots projectiles. The green (corrosive) variety will try to get close and suicide spraying the ark hunter.
Stationary enemy that launches projectiles into the air that explode when hitting ark hunters or the ground.
Not an active enemy these egg-shaped constructs hatch into other Hellbugs. Constructed by Skitterlings during Arkfalls.
Boss of the Major Arkfall “Hellbug Uprising”, is tethered to its encasement and only appears after one of the arms is destroyed. To sever an arm ark hunters must destroy the Gland in the armpit. Spits damaging goo. Entire exposed body is a weakpoint.
Boss of the Major Arkfall “Mother of all Hellbugs” and co-op map “Island of Lost Soldiers”, this large round Hellbug can stomp the ground launching close-by ark hunters into the air and back. Also emits skitterlings, can spray goo in an arc, and goes underground to escape attack. Though a weakpoint is present on its face during Arkfalls it isn’t susceptible during the co-op map.
Boss of the Major Arkfall “Revolting Hellbugs”, only appears after the Hellion Mouths of its encasement have all been killed. Spits goo and pounds the ground to damage ark hunters. Can be damaged anywhere but has large weakspot underneath.
Giant but fast-moving with a number of attack patterns including a swiping melee, curling up into a ball and rolling over ark hunters and launching goo in an arc. A number of actions will either expose the weakspot at its rear or leave it in a brief locked position.
Basic small fast-moving Hellbug perhaps the most common enemy in the game. Does little damage but nano-effects can be a problem.
Large squat bugs that move in close for melee attacks or draw up to launch a devastating blast capable of knocking ark hunters off their feet. Have weakspot on their behind. Will tunnel underground and then pop up attempting to damage an unsuspecting foe.
